Remember the past, enjoy the present and touch the future.... my literature, my diary, my sweet memories
My Second Home. I am very very proud to be an AITian. Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) is in my heart. We made a holiday trip for two weeks in Bangkok. AIT is the place where I always love to come. The trip was memorable as my wife had to extract her teeth at Bangkok Hospital. We stayed two days in ST2, then we moved to Arefin's house. It was a homely stay with them. My son became a fan of Arefin's wife 'Runie'.
Presented a paper in EASEC-11 held in Taiwan. Climbed the tallest building Taipei 101 (till then). Enjoyed the company and food with my mentor. Got a chance to attend a party with Taiwanese friends in a restaurant which they call 'Eat till die'. Grateful to Nick for everything he did for me.
I went to Hong Kong to present a paper in 2nd International Postgraduate Conference on Infrastructure and Environment. I was perplexed with the natural beauties of HK. I got a great feeling watching the ocean through the window while the plane was landing...This must be the place for civil engineers; long cable hanging bridges, tunnels, high-rise buildings, seaports, MTR and cable cars. I also liked the Hong Kong PolyU. Mr. Bose was my travel partner in this trip. I liked Hong Kong - a nice place to spend holidays.
We went to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for a conference 'Public-Private Partnership in Development' in Jan 2009. I presented one of my papers there. We have visited Putra Jaya and stayed close to Petronas Twin Towers. It was a four day trip. Armaan enjoyed swimming in the hotel and Juena enjoyed shopping at SOGO Center. I enjoyed the food, actually we all did. We enjoyed the company of Mr. Rahman, who took us to Putro Jaya, Hokkaido Sea food restaurant and Lala Thai food restaurant. I have never had such delicious sea food in my life! Both the conference and the tour were successful, we decided to make more trips in Malaysia.
We, a team of seven members went to Korea on June 12, 2018. It was an official trip from Ministry of Science and Technology to see the feasibility, specifications and quality of planetariums in Seoul, Korea. There, we visited almost all the planetariums, science museums and observatory centers. It was a knowledge sharing and information gathering trip for us (Technical Committee for Novo-theatres, Bangladesh) as the Government of Bangladesh is planning to set up 8 more Novo-theatres in major districts of Bangladesh with an objective to promote science education among young generation and thus to build science-minded nation.
It was an official trip to check the specifications and quality of Elliptical Dome for NSTC project. A team of seven members headed by Secretary, Science and Technology went to Huston, Texas, USA on 5 February, 2018. There I met my BUET friends Anwar and Sajid. Mainul came to see me at Las Angeles and drove us (Architect Dewan, Sarwardi and I) to Las Vegas. On our tour, we visited Beverly Hills, Santa Monika and Getta Center (Richard Mayer) at Los Angeles; Hover Dam, and Red Canyon at Las Vegas; Ground Zero, Hudson river and Manhattan in New York. Altogether, it was a 10 days trip!
As a part of USA trip, we a group of seven members went to Montarri, Mexico. It was a two days trip, where we visited the factory that was making the components (Aluminum alloy tubes and purlins etc.) of Ellipse Dome. The President of the company, Geometria, was along with us. We stayed in a very nice hotel that was more than 100 years old. We visited some construction sites of the company. Love the people and culture of that part of Mexico. It was really memorable.
